Even those of us comfortable with our single-status may start feeling a little down watching dudes traveling home on the bus with bouquets of flowers and restaurants packed with couples sharing romantic evenings. It may be tempting to book a shift at work or pick up a bottle of wine to wallow in sorrow while watching sappy chick flicks. But Valentine’s Day can be an even more special day for those of us without someone to share it with because we don’t have to do what us and our sweetie agree to do–we get to do exactly what we want to do.
Save up a little extra cash and throw yourself a wonderful private celebration.
Find something fun, sexy and comfortable to wear, pick up take-out from your favourite restaurant or find some great music to listen to while you cook an incredible meal. Maybe pick up a book or magazine you’ve been meaning to read but haven’t had the time or pop in a film that’s had great reviews. Set the mood with some candles and an extravagant cocktail.
Everyone is busy and it may normally seem selfish to take an evening to splurge on yourself, but like it’s important to show partners a little extra love now and then it’s important to take care of yourself. And for those of us who are single, there’s no one out there to do those sweet little things for us besides ourselves so what better day to do it!
